No Fault Insurance

No fault coverage can refer to any type of insurance that does not deny benefits based on fault.

No-fault auto insurance is any policy that pays you benefits towards property damage or costs due to bodily injury regardless of who was most responsible for the accident that caused the damages. This means that costs due to any property damage or bodily injury up to specific limits are covered, even if your negligence caused the accident to begin with.

No-Fault Liability Insurance

No-fault liability auto insurance replaces basic bodily injury and property damage liability insurance in some states where a high incidence of insurance fraud has led to liability insurance restructuring.

No-fault liability auto insurance is essentially the same as basic liability coverage, with the exception that is more flexible. A no-fault policy can even provide you with protection against costs due to property damage, or bodily injury inflicted by an under-insured or uninsured party

UIM: Under Insured Motorist

This type of no-fault auto insurance provides benefits to the insured in the event that they suffer bodily injury or property damage due to the actions or negligence of a third party that has insurance, but does not carry enough to cover the damages. In order for your no-fault auto insurance policy to provide this type of benefits, it must explicitly state that it offers coverage against under insured motorists.

UM: Uninsured Motorist

This coverage is almost exactly like the no-fault auto insurance described above, only it is designed to provide benefits should you suffer bodily injury or property damage at the hands of a completely uninsured motorist.

PIP: Personal Injury Protection

This coverage is unique in that it is one of the few auto insurance products that contains a no-fault clause while paying damages for bodily injury regardless of fault or status of health insurance enrollment.

This means that even if you cannot afford a full health insurance policy, you can purchase this type of no-fault auto insurance in order to make sure that some if not all of your medical bills will be paid for in the event of a traffic accident which causes you bodily injury
